| 2008: 282 billion dinars for rice marketers |

May 7, 2008 The Iraqi Ministry of Trade has provided 282 billion Iraqi dinars for rice marketers all over the country, a ministerial statement said on Wednesday. "The ministry has paid all farmers their dues…," according to the statement that was received by Aswat al-Iraq, Voices of Iraq, (VOI). The provinces of Najaf, Diwayniya and Babel provided the largest amounts of rice to the marketing centers, while the provinces of Samawa, Missan, Thi Qae came second. Najaf has supplied the marketing centers with over 129,000 tons of rice, worth of more than 120 billion Iraqi dinars (1 U.S. dollar=1,222 Iraqi dinars). Source: Voices of Iraq |
