| 2008: Huge demand for dollar at daily dinar auction |

June 10, 2008 Demand for the dollar was higher in the Iraqi Central Bank's auction on Tuesday, reaching $ 113.055 million compared to $84.635 million on Monday. "The demand hit $15.865 million in cash and $97.190 million in foreign transfers outside the country, all covered by the bank at a stable exchange rate of 1,197 Iraqi dinars per dollar," according to the central bank's daily bulletin which was received by Aswat al-Iraq - Voices of Iraq - (VOI). None of the 16 banks that participated in the auction offered to sell dollars. The Iraqi Central Bank runs a daily auction from Sunday to Thursday. |
