June 16, 2008 Demand for the dollar was notably higher in the Iraqi Central Bank's auction on Monday, the second this week, reaching $80.440 million compared to $54.340 million on Sunday. "The demand hit $12.870 million in cash and $67.570 million in foreign transfers outside the country, all covered by the bank at a stable exchange rate of 1,197 Iraqi dinars per dollar," according to the central bank's daily bulletin, which was received by Aswat al-Iraq - Voices of Iraq - (VOI). The 16 banks that participated in the auction offered to sell $2.430 million, which the bank bought at an exchange rate of 1,195 dinars per dollar.
