Australia ready to invest in Iraqi oil field
February 22, 2010
The Australian Industrial Chamber of Commerce has expressed its readiness to invest in a Wassit oilfield, a local official said on Sunday.
“On Sunday, the provincial council in Wassit received a delegation comprised of representatives of the Australian Industrial Chamber of Commerce,” the head of the reconstruction committee in the council, Eng. Mahdi al-Zubaydi, told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
The delegates have voiced their readiness to invest in an oilfield near al-Ahdab field (25 km west of Kut), Zubaydi noted.
Kut, the capital city of Wassit province, lies 180 km southeast of Baghdad.
