Over a certain amount of profit, you are required to pay taxes on the change in value of your Iraqi Dinar purchase. The amount of taxes you must pay depends on your individual tax rate and the length of time you have held the dinar. It is important to contact a competent accounting when determining what you are required to pay. As of 2010, DinarBanker is not required to report any information to the US Treasury Department (IRS) regarding individual domestic US sales or purchases of Iraqi Dinar as long as the transactions are not cash for cash transactions. Check and wire purchases/sales within the United States are not reported. For international transactions over $10,000, DinarBanker must report the transaction on a FinCEN 105.

It is perfectly legal to travel internationally with any amount of currency. As long as the value (at the time of travel) of the currency is less than $10,000 USD, no documentation/declaration needs to be completed regarding your currency. HOWEVER, if you are carrying more than $10,000 USD, you are required to complete a FinCEN 105 (obtainable online). The form is simple to fill out and basically informs the US Treasury Department that you are transporting currency internationally. With a signed FinCEN 105, you should be able to fly unincumbered to most countries in the world. Always check a country's currency importation rules before traveling and always let customs officials know you are bringing currency into their country.

It is perfectly legal to travel with large amounts of currency within the United States. However, if security or law enforcement personal are suspicious about the origin of the currency or the reason why you are transporting it, they can detain you until they receive satisfactory answers. Therefore, it is always a good idea to have a receipt or documentation with the currency you are transporting, along with a good explanation.
