President and CEO of Statoil, Helge Lund, together with president of Lukoil, Vagit Alekperov, have signed the development and production service contract for West Qurna 2, near Basra, the Norway Post newspaper said.

An Iraqi farmer cooperative is helping to revive the war-torn nation's agricultural economy by providing farmers with technical assistance, farm supplies and credit. In December the co-op celebrated the grand opening of its new office and warehouse facilities and held its first board of directors meeting.

South Korea’s Gas Corporation (KOGAS) said on Thursday that it seeks the investment of $1.50 billion into Iraqi oilfields as part of a consortium led by Russia’s Gazprom, according to a release by the company.
